Gnocchi alla Bava

Description

"Gnocchi alla Bava"Here's a hearty cheesy dish from Italy's Piedmont region, and it's really simple and fast.  Piedmont is at the foot of the Alps, and it's easy to see this as something nourishing and hot after hours of playing in the snow on a mountainside.

Because it's so heavy and caloric, it may be better to halve the servings as part of a more balanced meal!

Ingredients
16 oz Potato Gnocchi
4 T Butter (Unsalted)
4 oz Fontina Cheese
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 450.
  2. Boil the potato gnocchi according to the package instructions (or the recipe if you made your own).
  3. Butter an oven-safe serving dish that's narrow enough to make a few layers.
  4. Put a layer of gnocchi on the bottom, than some of the cheese and butter. Repeat until all the gnocchi is used and finish with the cheese.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes in the hot oven. Serve very hot.
