Mulled Wine

By John, 15 December, 2013
Description

Hot Mulled WineThis is a fine winter warmer when you are decorating the Christmas tree or just watching the snow fall and hoping you don't lose power!

Because the wine flavors are so variable, you really should play with the recipe to see what spice combinations work best with your house red.

This may require quite a lot of arduous research... ;-)

Yield
4 Servings
Preparation time
20 minutes
Ingredients
1 Dry Red Wine (1 unit = 1 bottle)
2 Cardamom pods (optional)
6 whole cloves (stud the tangerine before cutting)
1⁄2 Tangerine
1 cinnamon stick (2 inches)
1⁄4 c Honey
2 T Brandy (optional, but very good!)
Instructions

Simmer all ingredients together for about 15 minutes. Serve hot.

Notes

This is a basic version of a recipe that with other spices can be known as Glogg, Gluhwein, and other cold-weather hot drinks consumed since mankind mastered both fire and fermentation.
