Richmond's 65th Birthday Dinner was the first time I tried a fancy dinner at home. I was pretty nervous, but it worked out beautifully.
The theme was "What might have been served at Locke-Ober to celebrate Richmond's birth?" Almost all of the recipes came from a Locke-Ober cookbook that Annette had found somewhere and given to me (making her an unwitting accomplice - she was not hinting for a fancy dinner!)
Here's what we had:
-
Smoked Trout and Wellfleet Oysters with Talisker Scotch Whiskey
-
Vermentino di Sardegna Costamolino 2002
Vichysoisse with Fresh Tarragon
-
Grecante Grechetto Colli Martani 2002
Green Peas a la Menthe
Stuffed Turnips
Glazed Onions
Chicken Saute Richmond
-
Porto Colheita 1983
Cheeses: Societe Roquefort, 4-year Aged Gouda
-
Cherries Jubilee and Hot Tea
