Wire Works Gin

Wire Works GinWire Works Gin is made by GrandTen Distilling in Boston. It is not yet in wide distribution; I found a bottle at Binends wine in Braintree, and you can get it at Marty's Fine Wines.

I like it a lot. Wire Works is on the soft, floral side, closer to the Karner Blue Gin end of the spectrum than to the Gale Force Gin end.

Wire Works Gin made an excellent Martini 4:1 with the light, soft Dolin Dry Vermouth, and was less copacetic with Vya and not so good with Martini & Rossi. Try it also with Cinzano or Noilly Prat. I expect it to fare well with the better Sweet Vermouths although Carpano Antica may be too much for it.

As for a Gin and Tonic, I have not yet tried it, but I expect a Schweppes or Canada Dry tonic might be too sweet to be refreshing, I would try it with Q or Fever Tree, but I am not sure this is going to be good in a Gin and Tonic. See the notes from the Gin and Tonics post; we found the artisanal gins struggled, for reasons explored in that post. I would try it instead with one of the DRY sodas like the lavender.

It makes an excellent Aviation.

I expect it to do well in a Monkey Gland, but it would probably be blown away by a Negroni. I'm not a Negroni fan, so I will let our friends at The Gin Is In blog do that research! It's also a good sipping gin.

Overall I like the Wire Works Gin a lot for a summer gin. I'll keep it in my cabinet.
