Rum

Boston was a rum port in colonial times. Even the Great Molasses Flood didn't dampen the enthusiasm for rum in New England.

Today there are a number of rums being distilled in New England:

  • New England Distilling in Portland makes Eight Bells Rum, a rich amber rum.
  • Sweetgrass Winery, of Union, ME, makes Three Crows Rum
  • Privateer Rum in Ipswich makes a silver and an amber rum
  • Turkey Shore Distilleries in Ipswich makes a white, an amber, and two spiced rums
  • Ryan and Wood Distilleries in Gloucester makes Folly Cove Rum
  • GrandTen Distilling in Boston makes Medford Rum
  • Bully Boy Distillers makes a light and a dark rum
  • Newport Distilling (of Newport Storm beer) makes Thomas Tew Rum
  • Berkshire Mountain Distillers make Ragged Mountain Rum
