Our plan for Wednesday 28 May was to pick up Owen and Brigitte in Schwabach then to tour Regensburg in the afternoon and Munich in the evening and for the remainder of the trip. Lorna was recovering but exhausted and Melissa was still not well. We stretched our checkout to noon, then at noon we drove 30 minutes to Schwabach and tea with our friends and a tour of their house. We decided to skip Regensburg so Lorna and Melissa could have a less busy day. At around 3:30 we drove 90 minutes to Munich. In Italy wherever you drive on the highway you see farm fields and vineyards, but approaching Munich in Bavaria it was hop-fields everywhere!
We checked into the Hotel Alt Munchen for the remaining three nights of our long adventure. It was a nice hotel in a great location near the famous Marienplatz shopping area. It's also old, with a tiny, creaky elevator that came with this friendly note:
Dear guests, Our elevator is not large and not modern.
But carries a heart and a soul in it.
So if it is a bit shuddering, that means it loves you!
The front desk people were wonderful, especially with helping Lorna and Melissa complete their recovery. By now we had seen that eating or drinking anything at all just makes it come back, you just have to starve it out and endure the weakness with rest and quiet. They did that while Owen and Brigitte showed me around the Marienplatz.
We had dinner at Schneider Brauhaus, München
